Bancroft family letters, 1845-1866.

The collection contains transcriptions of letters which describe trips made by Henry K. Bancroft, Betsy Bancroft, Addison Bancroft, Mehitable Bancroft Stone, Charles F. Bancroft, and Smiley Bancroft. Many of the letters were written from Auburn, Massachusetts, while one was written from Macon, Georgia. There is an excellent letter dated August 25, 1847 which describes the hazards of stagecoach travel. The Bancroft family lived in Cabot, Vermont and Calais, Vermont. The papers also contain photocopies of family photographs and a short genealogy.
